The Start of a New Season

The Lord loves to bless his children. In the past 6 months, Stephanie and I have ventured into a new season for the both of us. This season required us to really use trust. Trust in each other, trust in our families, and most importantly trust in God.

Engaged To Be Married

At the end of April, Stephanie and I became engaged to each other! It was such an incredible day for the both of us. Both of our families were there with us to watch the proposal and to spend the entire day with us at our favorite place in the world. If you follow either of us on social media, you can see some of the photos from that day and everything just looked perfect. There is this common perception that people post their best moments on social media and they hide all of the bad, behind-the-scenes drama from the public, and that may be the case in most scenarios but for the leading up to this day, the pictures are a PERFECT representation of the behind-the-scenes. Let me elaborate. About 2 months prior, her family and I went on a 3 day Disneyland trip for her late birthday gift. It was a great time. I never planned on proposing to her here because my sister and brother-in-law got engaged here a while ago. But as we were at the park, Stephanie told me that she actually would not mind being proposed to in Disneyland, so for the entire rest of the trip, all I was doing was scouting locations for me to propose! To make a long story short, I didn't find a location until I got back home and did a google street view of the park. I found the PERFECT spot. Once I did, I told my family and her family my plan of attack and everyone was on board. I wanted the whole family to be there to witness this amazing moment and to spend the day with us (my sister, brother-in-law, parents, future in-laws), but everyone has work schedules and appointments to work around! But, because our God is so good, the day that I planned turned out to be PERFECT for everyone's work schedules. After that was all planned, I wanted it to be captured with professional photos. I contacted a friend of mine who shoots amazing photos to see if they were available and there were a few complications but it wasn't a big deal at all (at least to me). So for a few weeks I was stumped with having no photographer to capture the big moment, until my mom messaged me randomly at work telling me that she had a long time friend who lives in the SoCal area with annual passes who take professional photos! And the best part was, she was willing to do it for free. WHAT A BLESSING! The Lord lined that up PERFECTLY. So now, the plan was in action, schedules were all sorted out, a photographer was booked, and if that wasn't enough, the Lord blessed us with a financial blessing that was able to pay for the trip. So, after all of those blessings, we get to the park, our parents leave before us without her knowing, and everything fell into place so PERFECTLY and the day was the best day ever (until we got married).

The Planning

After we got engaged, we heard many congratulations, and "finally"'s from friends and loved ones. But after a couple of weeks, we started to hear people warn us about the hardship that was ahead for the planning process and to get ready for stress and long nights. But because of our faith in God and how much we depend on the Word and Holy Spirit to guide us, we literally let those "warnings" come in one ear and out the other. We had a couple of friends get married before us and they would tell us about some things that stressed them out during the planning and a part of us wanted to let out emotions creep in and cause us to fear and stress but we stood on the Word and didn't let it affect us. Because of this, the planning process was a breeze! There was literally not a single that went wrong during the entire 6-month long engagement. Again, because we have committed ourselves to stand on the Word and not the world, and to trust God, we had things happen to us, but NOTHING affected us like it would someone else. But during the planning, we got our venue the day we visited with no complications, and it was Stephanie's dream venue, we also got our cake and deserts, hassle free, her dress was easy to find and she was in love with it, my suit was ordered MONTHS before the wedding, our wedding party worked out so smoothly, we got an AMAZING photographer and videographer, our florist was SO GOOD, literally everything was like handed to us from God making it so fun, and exciting and STREE-FREE! I'm telling you, when you have faith and do not doubt, you are positioning yourself to receiving more blessings. And on top of all of this, we found a BEAUTIFUL home for us to live in which was a rental property that is owned by my grandpa and they blessed us with a renovation (because the home is a 1960's home with most of the original features). My parents blessed us with our honeymoon that was so beautiful and fun and her parents blessed us with the whole wedding day.

I don't say all of this to boast because we did not make this possible, this was all from the Lord. I only say this to show you how faithful He is and when you position yourself to receive, you better be ready for it to shower on you.

Our Take Aways

We learned so many things from this amazing season that we wanted to share with you.

  • Be planted in the Word

  • Romans 12:1-2 KJV

  • Have faith in God

Once you do these things you will allow yourself to experience the blessings that are waiting for you on the other side.
